Old Cottonians' Golf Group
    First Meet
    The first-ever informal Golf Meet of the Old Cottonians' Golf Group was held on the 24th of June, 1998 at the Bangalore Golf Club with a large degree of success. It was announced on the notice boards of the KGA and the BGC on the 13th of June, 1998 and in spite of the short notice, there was tremendous enthusiasm and response from Cottonian-golfers.  The lack of time made it difficult for the group to put up notices at the other clubs in Bangalore.

    Those who signed up included forty -one Old Boys ranging from Mr. William Richards (OC-1937) to M. Shivaram (OC-1992). The competition was to be held in the Stableford format with 90% equalizing factor of board handicap allowed. The maximum factored handicap allowed was 24.

    At tee-off, however, only 34 Old Boys made an appearance (including the irrepressible Mr. Richards and M. Shivaram). The event was abuzz with enthusiasm and excitement in the true Cottonian spirit and when the last of the participants had teed-off by 1:30 p.m., there were seven four-ball groups and two three-ball groups setting the BGC fairways ablaze.

    In spite of the windy conditions and a parched course (due to late monsoons), the golfers did creditably well and the winning scores were good.

    • 1st Runner-up:    A.B. Sudarshan        BGC    Hcap    15 with 38 points
    • 2nd Runner-up:    Nagappan                KGA    Hcap    18 with 34 points

    OPEN EVENT
     

    • Best Gross Score:    Anand Srinivasan    BGC    25 points
     

    The prizes were distributed at the OCA Reunion Dinner held on the night of 28th June, 1998 at the Kensington Terrace.
